I was back at The Wood Norton in Evesham, Worcestershire on August 20th for Judith & Ben's wedding; along with Rob. When I saw the weather forecast I have to admit I was filled with dissapointment as it was torrential rain & winds, plus the fact I had quite a long list of requested group photos. One of the reasons Judith & Ben booked me was because they liked the natural look of my images, & the way people don't look too 'posed'. However, the family group photos were still very important. So usually I don't let the weather bother me but on this occasion - I really did have my fingers crossed.
The ceremony was at Evesham Methodist Church where Judith has been going since she was little so it was relaxed & personal but still wonderfully classy. Then everyone made their way to The Wood Norton. The crossing of my fingers worked as during the drinks reception & pretty much all the way through the rest of the evening, luck was on our side & we somehow missed all of the rain! We did a bit of dashing inside now & then but we managed to capture all requested photos & more outside. I don't think I have ever been to a wedding that's run completely on time - until this one! We were actually ahead of time as everyone was so efficient & it was never a struggle gathering people for photos as they were so important for them all. My job was easy!
I loved the classical look of this wedding which really suited Judith & Ben who met at Oxford University. I was also very impressed when Judith told me that Ben had designed all the calligraphy & logo of their initials. Really refreshing seeing a groom getting hands on with the creative side - ha!!
Their first dance was to Etta James's 'At Last' & I found it incredibly moving. I usually don't get emotional at the first dance as it normally happens during the speeches for me! I don't know whether it was because 'At Last' was my Uncle & Auntie's first dance song or just simply the way Judith & Ben coyly & romantically spun each other around whilst Judith humbly kicked her dress out of the way every now & then so they could actually move. Everyone was glued to the dance floor & it finished in raptors applause. It was perfect & real.
I really enjoyed this wedding & have to say I do love photographing at The Wood Norton as the wedding coordinators Sandie, Josh & Aimee are so lovely & good at what they do. Always making sure everyone is looked after & everything runs smooth. I think this can be a make or break at some weddings (as well as the photographer - of course.)
Here's a few images from this lovely day....
