As I travel everywhere & anywhere to photograph weddings there's still popular venues I haven't been to. This isn't a bad thing as I like keeping things fresh & my creative mind flowing! Shustoke Barn in Coleshill was one of these venues I'd heard so much about but never been - until Jemma & Sam's wedding on August 28th. I have done many barn weddings but this barn in particular is definitely now one of my favourites (probably cause there's a massive field a few yards from the entrance & if you've been photographed by me, you know I love a good field!)
This wedding just had immense style. I mean, look at Jemma! I was so excited when I discovered her dress was from Coco & Kate, & when I could see she was having a boho up-do. I was just staring at her all day! It really complimented Sam's black tie & braces too - stylish & edgy.
It was a gorgeous day & lovely drinks reception accompanied by Apollo Soul who later came back with the full band for the evening celebrations. I was aware Jem & Sam wanted plenty of time mingling with guests so once the family photos were done I didn't push for the couple photos until a few minutes before the wedding breakfast. We took a bit of time in the field (of course) & the lovely courtyard filled with trees; & then I had a feeling we could get a golden hour so I had hopes for later on....
Jemma & Sam created a game for everyone to play before the speeches which was a lovely idea to get everyone's energy up after a big meal & get the laughter started! They asked the guests questions & they had to pick either Jemma (the lips) or Sam (the moustache). Everyone started standing & would hold up the appropriate card to who they thought it was & if they were wrong they had to sit down. The winner won a bottle of wine. It didn't take much time but was a lovely entry into the speeches.
Once the evening reception started I spotted the sun, so we took time out again to get a few more shots & even though Jemma & Sam were in full party swing mode, I kept reassuring them they would thank me & I'm so glad they did!
Have a little scroll if you want to see a perfect day filled with style & sunshine!
